Everyone collects something. My dad collects magnets. Jay Leno collects cars. Jeffrey Dahmer collected body parts.
I collect cups.
No, not coffee mugs, shot glasses, or souvenir beverage holders. I collect actual cups, mostly paper or plastic in variety, from restaurants, water companies, hotels, and any other corporation that wishes to see a cylindric version of its logo. I started doing this in late 2006 and, thankfully unlike the relationship I was in at the time, it continues to this day.
Why do I do this, you might ask?
Well, first of all, I’m deranged.
Secondly, the thrill of the hunt.
Lastly, I am sort of doing it to make a statement: no one realizes just how many logos there are out there until you see all of them gathered in one place. Apparently, this is an issue that I believe needs awareness raised. I guess this is where the derangement factor comes into play.
“Cupdates” will appear every Friday, as I collected my very first cup on a Friday.
Cups on the cup blog will appear in the order in which I collected them. As I currently own hundreds of cups, the absence of one on this list doesn’t necessarily mean that it is absent from my collection, but rather hasn’t been posted to the blog as of yet. With a one-post-per-week schedule, it will take multiple years to be “caught up.”
However, if there is a cup out there that you are certain I do not have, please feel free to email me at fumor.net@hotmail.com. I will reply back to let you know whether I have it or not. If I do not have it, I would of course be willing to accept it from you, although, at this point in time, I can give you no other restitution other than credit here on the website. At the very least, I’d appreciate a location on where I could find said cup.
